00:00:00: This episode is provided by Thomas Allgaier and Frennus, based on the most relevant LinkedIn posts about digital power tools from calendar weeks thirteen and fourteen.

00:00:09: Frenness is a B to B market research company that supports enterprises in the Power Tools sector with building feature-by-feature competitive intelligence That shows exactly how their product stacks up against the competition.

00:00:21: You can find more info.

00:00:23: Welcome everyone.

00:00:24: We are super excited to get into this one.

00:00:26: today we're going on a deep dive in the top digital power tool trends that we've been seeing across LinkedIn.

00:00:33: Yeah,

00:00:33: and this is specifically custom tailored for you The professionals out there actually running operations In the construction And smart manufacturing industries

00:00:42: Exactly!

00:00:42: The modern job site Is just moving so fast right now And insights from past couple of weeks really show That

00:00:48: They do So.

00:00:50: here's the roadmap for today's deep dive.

00:00:52: First, we're going to explore how cordless innovation is moving way deeper into heavy-duty workflows

00:00:58: right?

00:00:58: Way beyond just light drilling.

00:01:00: exactly then We'll look at how productivity is shifting from.

00:01:03: you know Just being about the tool it to be about.

00:01:05: the entire process has

00:01:06: a huge shift.

00:01:07: It is and from there will talk about the rise of safety as a core purchase argument.

00:01:12: And finally we're gonna look at very real integration of robotics and digital tracking out on the job site.

00:01:20: All while keeping in mind that way we actually buy these tools remains incredibly physical, it's a fascinating dynamic!

00:01:26: It really is.

00:01:27: so let's jump right into that first theme cordless innovation.

00:01:31: yeah to really understand The Modern Job Site You kind of have to look at the power source first, because I mean battery platforms are no longer just for those light-duty tasks.

00:01:41: They're absolutely the central innovation engine right now.

00:01:44: Yeah we're seeing a massive push here especially with Hiltai and their Neuron platform.

00:01:48: Oh for sure!

00:01:49: i was looking at posts from Johann Ducard Drager in Constantin Jemingen And they were both highlighting the TE-Seventy.

00:01:56: Twenty Two

00:01:57: The cordless SDS Max rotary hammer.

00:02:00: Yes

00:02:01: Which is crazy.

00:02:02: It's bringing that heavy-duty masonry performance, but completely without the cord Mm-hmm.

00:02:07: it's wild to see that kind of impact energy running purely on a battery

00:02:11: Totally.

00:02:11: and then you've got you old a kalusha teasing the siw?

00:02:15: Twenty twenty two impact wrench.

00:02:17: oh The

00:02:18: torque on that thing.

00:02:19: right he noted it delivers up to three thousand Newton meters of nut busting torque all On a battery.

00:02:26: Three thousand Newton meters without a pneumatic hose is just incredible.

00:02:30: It really it's like moving from a desktop PC to high-powered laptop.

00:02:35: Suddenly the heavy processing is fully mobile.

00:02:38: That's great way of putting.

00:02:39: But you know, does make me wonder Does taking away cord compromise power on tough concrete job?

00:02:45: Well if look at Milwaukee's Heavy Hitters The proof right there that doesn't Really?

00:02:49: Yeah Christian T was showcasing M-Eighteen FULL Cordless Roll Groover for large pipes.

00:02:55: Oh wow!

00:02:55: Roll-grooving large pipes is usually a nightmare with cords.

00:02:58: Exactly, you're usually fighting the drag of the cable but now it's completely cordless.

00:03:03: and then Omar El Mazdugi highlighted the MXFUL Concrete Screed ruler...

00:03:08: Wait!

00:03:08: A cordless screed?

00:03:10: Yeah It delivers thermal level performance up to nine thousand vibrations per minute.

00:03:16: No cables no gas fumes.

00:03:18: That is massive for enclosed spaces

00:03:20: Absolutely And DeWalt is heavily in this space too.

00:03:23: Simo Grow and Sean W revealed these new battery-powered metalworking tools that are engineered specifically for confined spaces.

00:03:32: Right, where you literally couldn't drag a hose if you tried?

00:03:35: Exactly!

00:03:35: They're putting maximum power.

00:03:37: exactly were it historically just couldn't go Which

00:03:39: really connects the dots to our second theme.

00:03:42: Because of tools we now fully mobile And just as powerful.

00:03:45: The bottleneck isn't tool itself anymore.

00:03:48: The bottleneck is the workflow.

00:03:49: Exactly, it becomes a work flow story.

00:03:51: Yeah!

00:03:51: The conversation's all about fewer process steps and just way less downtime

00:03:56: Like what Andre Muthus was talking about.

00:03:57: Yes exactly His post showed this huge shift toward press-based installs for mechanical pipe replacements.

00:04:04: Right, skipping the welding Yeah

00:04:06: It completely eliminates hot works permits.

00:04:08: You don't have to wait around for fire safety sign offs.

00:04:11: One engineer can get that job done safely.

00:04:13: That saves so much administrative time.

00:04:15: And Daniel Birchner had a great insight along those same lines regarding Hiltai's empty modular platform combined with their cordless stud fusion.

00:04:24: Oh yeah, the Stud Fusion system is amazing!

00:04:27: It really is.

00:04:28: he pointed out that it removes entire steps like surface prep and post painting because

00:04:32: it fuses right through the coating?

00:04:34: Right exactly...and

00:04:35: the result is up to ninety-five percent faster installation.

00:04:37: Ninety

00:04:38: five

00:04:38: percent?!

00:04:39: That's insane!

00:04:41: and Mario Polunic echoed this sentiment perfectly when he was talking about Evagine core drills.

00:04:46: Time saved directly translates to money on the

00:04:48: job."

00:04:49: It

00:04:49: absolutely does!

00:04:50: But let me ask you, if you speed up physical installation by ninety-five percent don't just create logistical headaches somewhere else?

00:04:57: Like, aren't you gonna run out of materials way faster?

00:05:00: Oh that is such a good point and it's exactly what Alexander Funk posted about recently.

00:05:04: Really?!

00:05:04: What did he say?

00:05:05: He

00:05:05: was talking about Hilti's consumable management solution.

00:05:09: It's designed specifically to keep material centrally organized with real-time documentation.

00:05:15: Also the logistics kept up at tools.

00:05:17: Exactly!

00:05:18: It keeps the faster workflow completely stress free.

00:05:21: And speaking of logistics Russell Hall shared a crazy story about Milwaukee.

00:05:26: Oh, I saw that up in Aberdeen right?

00:05:28: Yeah

00:05:29: They delivered a magnetic drill to a marine client In Aberdein within twenty four hours just To keep it tight schedule moving.

00:05:36: That just proves the logistical speed is becoming Just as critical As The tools motor.

00:05:40: Absolutely.

00:05:41: But changing the workflow doesn't just save time.

00:05:44: It fundamentally alters risk profile of whole job

00:05:47: site.

00:05:48: Which brings us to theme three.

00:05:50: Safety is shifting into a core purchase argument.

00:05:53: Yes,

00:05:54: it's no longer an afterthought.

00:05:55: It's really the primary reason to buy.

00:05:57: in a lot of cases

00:05:58: It's all about eliminating hazards at this source like Lenny Edmonds post about The Hilti SBT threaded stud system.

00:06:04: Oh for the transmission towers?

00:06:06: Yeah

00:06:06: They use it to fasten fixtures on Transmission Towers without any wells or grinding

00:06:10: Which means you don't destroy the galvanization.

00:06:13: Exactly!

00:06:13: It preserves the protective coatings and stops corrosion before even starts which Is massive.

00:06:19: safety and reliability win for the power grid.

00:06:21: And you don't have guys doing hot works hundreds of feet in the air?

00:06:25: Exactly!

00:06:26: Milwaukee Tool is also running these massive safety campaigns right now.

00:06:29: Tim Albrecht was discussing the global shift from traditional hard hats to type two helmets.

00:06:35: Right, because hard hats just fall off if you trip?

00:06:37: Exactly!

00:06:38: Type-two helmets have the chin straps and side impact protection to really reduce fatal slip & fall injuries.

00:06:44: That's so crucial

00:06:45: It really is.

00:06:46: And stuff on Google On highlighted Milwaukee's Project Zero.

00:06:49: twenty-twenty six tour in Romania.

00:06:52: Project zero meaning zero accidents.

00:06:55: Yeah.

00:06:55: The whole goal of the tour is aimed at eliminating accidents entirely through education and better gear.

00:07:00: You

00:07:00: know, it's funny safety used to be that eat your vegetables part of a tool pitch.

00:07:04: now It's the main course.

00:07:06: That is so true, and the tech behind it is getting crazy.

00:07:10: Adrienne Gosnell posted about how Milwaukee's actually using AI in machine learning to accelerate R&D of their next generation safety gear.

00:07:18: Wait...AI

00:07:18: for Safety Gear?

00:07:19: Yeah!

00:07:20: They are running digital simulations to design top-rated helmets & knee pads that absorb impact better.

00:07:25: Well if AIs designing the safety gear It definitely inside tools too.

00:07:29: Oh without a doubt.

00:07:30: Which leads us right into Theme Four.

00:07:32: Connected tooling and robotics are moving way closer to real use cases.

00:07:38: The digital air is making these tools incredibly smart.

00:07:41: Starting with basic asset visibility, Mico Carbonin showcased Tilty's on-and-track system paired with their new AI T-Four Hundred GPS tag.

00:07:51: I was reading about that.

00:07:52: the battery life of those tags is incredible.

00:07:53: Yeah

00:07:54: it boasts a five year battery life To ensure you literally never lose track your field equipment

00:07:58: Which saves so much money in lost assets.

00:08:01: And Playao Campimani Sanchez highlighted a similar trend with Bosch's smart industrial tools.

00:08:06: Oh right, using NFC!

00:08:07: Exactly they use NFC and software integration to provide total line traceability in automated control on the assemblyline.

00:08:14: The tool literally knows what it is supposed do.

00:08:16: Yes

00:08:17: But goes beyond just smarttools.

00:08:18: we are seeing actual robotics.

00:08:20: Chris Nelson shared that Stanley Black & Decker leaped number thirty six on Fortune's most innovative companies list.

00:08:26: Was because of the default?

00:08:27: Robot?

00:08:28: Yes, the downward drilling robot.

00:08:31: It is completely revolutionizing data center construction

00:08:34: because data centers need thousands of anchor holes

00:08:37: exactly and this robot drills ten times faster with ninety nine point nine seven percent accuracy.

00:08:43: that's wild.

00:08:44: yeah

00:08:44: over nearly two hundred thousand holes drilled so far And Husqvarna doing this in demolition too.

00:08:50: Right.

00:08:50: The remote-controlled ones?

00:08:51: Yeah, Vince Greco and Jared Girding posted about the DXR Remote-Controlled Robots.

00:08:56: They keep operators safe up to three hundred meters away in really hazardous environments

00:09:00: Three hundred metres away while doing heavy demolition.

00:09:03: That's just incredible.

00:09:04: It really is.

00:09:05: But let me ask you Are we looking at a fully automated job site soon or Is this for hyper specialized tasks.

00:09:11: Honestly robotics are still smaller theme overall But these posts prove it's moving aggressively from just being a flashy innovation showcase to having highly practical, everyday field relevance.

00:09:23: Right?

00:09:23: It?

00:09:23: solving specific dangerous problems

00:09:25: Exactly!

00:09:26: but you know there is a fascinating contradiction in all of this.

00:09:29: Well despite the advanced AI and digital tracking robotic selling these tools requires getting surprisingly traditional and physical.

00:09:38: That brings us to theme five Go To Market.

00:09:41: Execution stays Highly Physical.

00:09:43: Yeah, you really can't sell a hyper advanced tool through your screen.

00:09:47: You definitely need live demos.

00:09:49: Daniel Strappa and Natalie Kohler were just highlighting the incredible turnout for The Bosch Pro Tour

00:09:55: in France right?

00:09:56: They had six thousand users show up in Le Mans And they're doing more events in Lens & Innsbruck Just so people can test the expert range.

00:10:04: Six thousand professionals taking time out of their week just to hold a tool.

00:10:08: Exactly, and Allison Pastrell shared that DeWalt hosted an immersive two-day product experience for influencers in Denmark.

00:10:15: It really proves that hands on time is irreplaceable Definitely.

00:10:18: And we're also seeing how partnerships are being used to provide contextual proof In these really extreme environments.

00:10:25: Oh

00:10:25: like the wind tower post.

00:10:26: Yes

00:10:27: Chad Defranco shared that collaboration between Vesta's and Milwaukee.

00:10:31: it showed Wind Tower climbing from a technicians view

00:10:34: Right, proving the cordless tools work hundreds of feet in the air.

00:10:37: Exactly.

00:10:38: and Matt O'Hara noted another great example.

00:10:41: he talked about how an Instagrid LINK Maxx-Four Hundred Portable Power Supply literally saved the day on site.

00:10:50: What were they running it?

00:10:51: It was powering a sixteen millimeter steel plasma cutter alongside Wilkinson Star equipment

00:10:57: A Plasma Cutter off a portable battery.

00:11:00: That's intense.

00:11:01: I know!

00:11:01: And Srikhand Shaji even teased a new collaboration between Stanley Tools and Fuse AE.

00:11:07: It seems like no matter how much Bluetooth connectivity or robotic accuracy a tool has, professionals still demand to feel the weight in vibration in their own hands before adopting it.

00:11:18: Absolutely They need to trust it physically Before they trust it digitally Which actually leaves me with final thought for you to mull over.

00:11:24: Let us hear

00:11:24: As power tools become entirely cordless, digitally tracked and increasingly automated we are moving toward a future where the tool is no longer just a piece of hardware in a truck.

00:11:33: Right it's data node

00:11:34: exactly all fully integrated data node in the construction process.

00:11:39: so how will that alter the required skill sets for the next generation of tradespeople?

00:11:44: That is a fascinating question to leave off on.

00:11:47: Well, if you enjoyed this episode new episodes drop every two weeks.

00:11:50: Also check out our other editions on digital construction and smart manufacturing.

00:11:53: Thank You for listening!
